The headlines turning our heads...
The future of work is changing. The future of education is here.
College graduate unemployment rate has increased by 26% in 2025
Nearly 75% of employers now use "skills-based hiring" rather than grades to screen candidates.
At Future Human School we already anticipated changes in the work place. Our students are building skills based portfolios that matter.
They reflect on the skills they’ve used EVERY DAY during the projects they’ve worked on.
Here's something exciting: growth is starting to matter more than grades.
More and more companies are looking past exam results and focusing on what really counts - your actual skills and what you can bring to the table.
It's a shift from pedigree to performance.
And the data backs this up. Skills-based assessments are five times better at predicting job performance than a degree by itself. Organizations are seeing 88% fewer bad hires because they're able to see candidates in action before making an offer. Plus, employees hired for what they can do—not just where they studied—stay 9% longer on average. They feel more capable, more fulfilled, and more engaged in their work.
Last term our students took over a restaurant here in Ubud.
They learnt about food from the ground to the table. They grew their own food, visited local kitchens and learnt from Michelin star chefs. (Thanks syrcobase.com)
They designed their own menus and designed restaurant layouts.
They prepped, cooked, and served it all to their parents and peers.
When your child learns skills, not just grades, they gain the tools to solve real-world problems long after the report card is forgotten.
Our Future Humans are growing, every day, every, week, every term. The reflect on the skills they learn every day - and communicate their wins, fails, and collaborations. They take that experience from one project to the next.
Just like the future of work.
