Things We Often Get Asked

The school day runs from 9am-3pm every day and after school clubs are 3-4pm.

Devices (laptops/tablets) are essential and used as learning tools. Students need to bring their own device, preferably a tablet, fully charged each day unless told otherwise. We hold a session in the first week of each term to configure devices ready for learning.
Phones are stored during the day and accessed only with permission.
AI use is permitted when integrated meaningfully - not to bypass learning.
Use of tech must be purposeful, respectful, and aligned with school values.

In order for a student to get full benefit of the programme and see a project through from start to end they must enrol for the full 8/9 week term. They will also get to experience and play a part in the community of the group which is a big focus of Future Human School.
Commitment & Expectations:
Minimum enrolment: one full term
Trial period: the first two weeks of Term for new students
End-of-term celebrations are part of the learning process - families are encouraged to attend

Students who are unwell should stay home until symptom-free for 24 hours. If a student becomes unwell during the day:
Parents will be contacted to collect them
Medication will only be administered with prior parental consent
For injuries or fevers, we follow our First Aid & Medical Assistance Policy

Each academic year includes four terms:
Term 1: August 11 – October 10, 2025 (9 weeks)
Term 2: October 27 – December 19, 2025 (8 weeks)
Term 3: January 12 – March 13, 2026 (9 weeks)
Term 4: March 30 – June 5, 2026 (10 weeks)

Yes, we are fortunate to have partnered with Chef Malaika, the renowned plant-based chef and nutritional visionary behind Malaika’s Secret Home, to provide nourishing, wholesome meals for our students each day. Meals are intentionally designed to be balanced, nourishing and child-friendly, while also introducing new textures, flavours, and ingredients from a plant-based world.
Each term students will enjoy:
One daily main meal served in the Naya Veda Vastu restaurant
One wholesome snack
Packed lunches provided for off-site days and excursions.
Cost: Full meal service is 70,000 IDR per day payable in 2 weekly amounts
Families also have the option to send food from home if preferred.
We also encourage parents to come and join us in the school restaurant for co-working, socialising and regular parent talks.

Essential Tips
Consider staying east of Ubud: Pejeng Kawan Pejeng Kangin and Pejeng Kelod, MAS, Nyuh Kuning
Rent short-term when you arrive, then look around for long-term options
Villa costs vary from IDR 10–30 million/month for a 2-3 bed
Be prepared for traffic delays due to ceremonies or road conditions.
Ubud is hilly - if mobility is a concern, location matters
Join local facebook groups to find suitable options to look at.
Most prices will be negotiated, especially if staying long term

Transport
Scooters are the fastest, most affordable way to get around
Private drivers are available daily or on-call
Grab and GoJek apps cover rides, food and errands
Petrol costs around IDR 10,000/litre. Petrol stations are cheaper than shops
International Driving Permit (IDP) is required for legal driving after 6 months living in Bali, you should apply for your local licence
Scooter lessons are available in Ubud for new riders
Phones, Money, SIM cards
Buy a Telkomsel or XL SIM card locally - cheap and effective. Esims can be good value too, especially to start with.
Register your device IMEI if staying longer than 90 days. This is easiest at the airport. Depending on your phone model you may need to pay a tax.
Use WhatsApp for most communication (including with the school)
ATMs widely available with limits of IDR 2–3 million
QRIS payments are common and accepted at most cafes and shops

We provide basic first aid on-site and take health and safety seriously. Serious cases are referred to professionals.
